Holiday accommodation in Östergötland
Unlike Västergötland, the province of Östergötland largely coincides with the county of the same name.
The history of the landscape is very exciting, there are about 50,000 known ancient remains and the oldest traces of man go back to earlier than 7000 years before Christ.
We can divide Östergötland into three parts: the central plain surrounded by forest areas in the north and south, the Östgötaskärgården and the eastern side of Lake Vättern. A fault slope runs through the entire landscape from Motala to Norrköping and further along the north side of Bråviken. This, together with the lakes Boren, Roxen and Glan, forms a sharp boundary between the forest areas and the plain. Mentioned in this context may be that the fish stocks of these lakes are rich and that it may be worthwhile to try your luck at fishing. However, do not forget the fishing license!

Information about the region of Östergötland
In Östergötland, we also find Swedens second largest lake after Lake Vänern both in terms of surface area (1893 km²) and volume (77.6 km³), Lake Vättern, which is Europe's sixth largest lake.
The five major towns are as follows: Linköping, Norrköping, Motala, Finspång and Mjölby. The Göta Canal flows through Östergötland, where the height difference between Lake Vättern and the Baltic Sea is evened out through 37 locks.
